Oxford

Oxford is one of my favourite places. I first fell in love with it reading Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy (even though his Oxford is in a fictional world), and the first time I went there in 2009 I was enchanted. I love the architecture and the old colleges, the little alleyways and the cobbled streets, and it’s a place I’d love to stay for a while and just explore. Going back there was amazing – everything felt so familiar even though I’d only been there once before.

It was a beautiful day, if a bit hot (water bottles were a must). We started out on a tour bus before disembarking to explore on foot, which was more my forte. I don’t remember taking any photos during our 2009 trip, so I made the most of the long day we were there. We climbed up the tower of the church opposite the Radcliffe Camera to get some nice views. I was terrified of heights last time we went, but I must have grown somewhat because I don’t remember the staircase being so winding and tight! I’m not much of an urban/street photographer but I still had a lot of fun.
