Jane Austen’s House

I have returned! I hope you enjoyed the blog posts that were updated while I was away.

We flew in to Auckland around midday on Monday, and I’ve been rushing between classes and sleeping since then. Since none of that is conducive to photo-editing I haven’t been able to look at the photos I took while over there, which is a shame. I thought we’d start at the beginning though, so this post is short.

Despite exhaustion from our travels, we did manage to make a little trip the day after our arrival. Jane Austen’s House
was not far from where we were staying in Hampshire, so we piled into our van after lunch and meandered there through the countryside. The house and gardens were all fragrant with the flowers in summer bloom, and it was a lovely day. (As a side note, we had average temperatures of 25 degrees C while we were in England, and it didn’t rain once!)

House

The buildings are a little wonky, but beautifully restored. We dabbled in the art of writing with goose feather quills and making dried lavender bundles before wandering around the house and listening to someone play a very old pianoforte.

The next few weeks are going to be busy ones, so I will attempt to keep up to date and post on time!
