Tiny toutouwai details

I really like this photo for two reasons – one is the feather textures, which are just stunning. The other is that backlit foot – you wouldn’t notice quite how orange a robin’s foot is unless there’s light shining through it! Capturing these details is one of my favourite parts of wildlife photography.

The two things I don’t like about this image is how close that bottom foot is to the edge of the frame, and that blurry stick poking into the robin’s back. You can’t have a perfect background every time!
